Montessori World SchoolWelcome To Montessori World School! The founding head of school, W. Nora Yee, opened the school in September 1981. Located near the Lake Buena Vista area, its convenient location is just minutes away from I-4 and such communities as Windermere, Bay Hill, Dr. Phillips and Celebration, as well as Osceola and Lake Counties.

We are affiliated with the American Montessori Society and currently have 11 certified teachers and 15 support staff, as well as 4 specialists. The school currently has two toddler (age 20 months-3), five primary (age 3-6) and three elementary (age 6-12) classes. We emphasize the development of self-confidence, independence, concentration and love of learning in a carefully prepared environment that is simple, orderly, calm and geared for the child. Our principal aim is to help each child develop within himself the foundation for a lifetime of creative learning. Our program is based on the educational method developed by Dr. Maria Montessori over ninety years ago. The Primary program is fully licensed by the Florida Dept. of Children and Families.

Media CenterOutside the classroom, special facilities continue to encourage learning. An extensive library containing thousands of reference and fictional books is available to both students and parents. Computer NetworkThe media center also contains educational videos, records and tapes and a computer-networked environment to the Internet. Enrichment "After School Programs" offer opportunities in art, drama, music, dance and foreign languages. Our Elementary students participate in a humanities program that includes art, music, physical education, Spanish, computers and woodworking.

MWS also encourages civil responsibility among our children, families and staff through community outreach projects. Among these projects are food and clothes drives for local organizations, serving the homeless, visiting assisted living facilities and sponsoring a room in the Developmental Center of the Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families.

What people have to say about MWS:

..."As an observer, it was very interesting to me to see so many little children busy and quiet; some playing alone, some working on puzzles with other children and some getting guidance from the teachers. This program encourages the child to have the joy of learning...It is really amazing to see 4-year olds reading, with comprehension and understanding math. Not only that, they are very happy doing it!"...

Student Quotes

"I really prefer Montessori because it prepares you for the next grade a little better. The teachers understand each child has to learn a different way...they understand each child and get to know them."

Ivey, Age 11

"I like that it's a small class and that we have a good teacher...I feel very safe here and it's fun!"

Alex, Age 10
