Miss Erika Phillips, the Assistant/Montessori Intern Teacher in the Shark Room is the eldest of 4 children who was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Living in a Cuban household speaking Spanish, Erika can appreciate and enjoys the multicultural community of Montessori World School. She moved to Orlando to attend Valencia Community College to pursue a Nursing Degree.
Through family and friends and a natural predisposition for education and teaching, Erika found Montessori. Touring local Montessori Schools fueled her desire to learn more about Montessori. The more she read and discovered about Montessori Philosophy, the more it solidified the pending decision to obtain Montessori teacher training. Erika is currently in the process of obtaining her Montessori Primary Credential with Orlando Montessori Teacher Education Institute in Celebration.
Erika has a natural affinity and connection to animals. She recently discovered abandoned infant squirrels who fallen from their nest. Erika nursed and cared for them; but unfortunately only one survived. “Lilly” the squirrel visits the Shark Room often and can be spotted climbing lovingly on Erika.
