As our students transition into early adolescence, they go through a period of enormous change and development. In keeping with our Montessori mission and with the unique needs of Middle School students in mind, we provide integrated academics and activities along with character, social, and leadership development. We not only challenge our student, but care about each one as an individual. We know that to meet the demands of an Upper School and beyond, student need intellectual capabilities, but also need attributes of healthy personal development. The lessons are developmentally appropriate and challenges students to grow intellectually. We utilize projects, interdisciplinary work, and group assignments to build student interest and encourage excellence. Our students develop the skills necessary for success in core academics and have many opportunities to pursue new and personal interest. Every day, we emphasize communication skills, reading, writing, speaking, and problem solving, and always seek to stretch each child’s curiosity.
As a part of the Montessori World School mission, we also focus on the ethical and moral development of our students. This happens each day in class, during advisory, on the playground, and during field trips. We work with you to reinforce decision making, tolerance, respect, and honesty our students have been taught since Pre-Primary and at home. In all our endeavors with students, we encourage them to try new things and explore their interest with the knowledge that we are here to help.
